My heart goes out to my friend Deborah. She just had her second baby exactly a week ago. My heart doesn't go out to her becasue of the baby. Babies are wonderful and magical and a complete miracle. However, my heart does go out to her because of the baby...and the toddler. I took one look at her face this morning complete with the cliched and almost cartoon looking dark circles and knew as only one who has just recently emerged from those deep waters knows. Those first few weeks of a new baby when there are other babies at home make me want to write to the publisher of What to Expect When You're Expecting and tell them to delete the comments about "napping when your baby naps." That taunting advice is just plain mean. So Deborah, this blog is for you. I know I cannot wish you a good night's sleep tonight, so I wish you the ability to remember this too will pass. You might even find yourself in a few years thinking "Hey, that wasn't so bad. Maybe I can do it again."
